The primary purpose of Lehigh Christian Academy is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We believe that a Christian education that holds that God is central and everything exists in relation to Him will glorify Him. To enjoy God forever a person must know the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Living Lord; therefore, Lehigh Christian Academy seeks to present Him in its entire program. "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3). "We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect (complete, mature) in Christ. To this end (we) labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in (us)" (Colossians 1 :28, 29).
Christian education teaches that the child is a spiritual and material being. He is a unity and, therefore, must be educated as such. It is extremely important that we train the entire personality of the pupil – the spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and social. The spiritual is actually the integrating factor, because the material areas have no meaning apart from the spiritual (1 Cor. 2:6-16). Lehigh Christian Academy has a threefold calling:
- To prayerfully present the Gospel clearly to each child;
- To instill in students a specific set of scriptural truths and principles by which their lives should be ruled; and
- To instill in students the ability and desire to evaluate all that is around them in the light of these truths and principles.
In the world, things sacred and secular are divided, but Christian education recognizes no such division. The Word of God teaches that in a Christian's life, everything should be done for God's glory. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31). All truth belongs to God, therefore, no presented truth, in any field of knowledge, will contradict the Word of God. We seek to teach truths in that light. Only a teacher with a thoroughly God-centered outlook on life can convey this vital concept, that God must not be separated from everyday life, but rather, He must be the Ruler of that life, and as such, seeks to be the Revealer of all life.
Bible teaching has a primary place in the curriculum of Lehigh Christian Academy. It is in the bible that we find the great truths about God, ourselves, and our relationship to Christ. "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth" (John 17:17; also Hebrews 4: 12, 13).
Lehigh Christian Academy, by combining the academic and spiritual learning patterns with proper scriptural discipline in cooperation with the home, and hopefully a Bible preaching church, helps to develop the entire child. We desire harmony between the home and school in the teaching values, goals, discipline, and atmosphere; we will strive toward excellence in these areas. Therefore, both the Christian parents and the Christian teacher are essential cooperatives in this philosophy of education.
- We believe that the Bible is God's Word verbally inspired and inerrant in the original writing. We believe it to be authoritative in all matters of faith and conduct.
- We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death. We believe in His bodily resurrection; His ascension and visible return to the world according to His promise.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit who came to regenerate, sanctify, seal and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.
- We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death. We believe that all men by nature and by choice are sinners and are, therefore, under just condemnation.
- We believe in the church - a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head. We believe that a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ. We believe that to the local church was committed the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper. The church is an association for worship, work, fellowship and the proclamation of the Gospel. We believe that church and state must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from the dictation of the other.
